Shannon's baby shower & a spin class

I remember why I got tired of writing daily recaps.  It's because the weekends are so hard to keep up with!  Once again I'm here on Monday and I haven't written Friday, Saturday or Sunday yet!  I've been meaning to write them, I uploaded all the pictures and everything but I just couldn't find the time to put the words together.

We were having a baby shower for Shannon at our office on Friday morning.  It was a brunch shower so I didn't eat breakfast before I left the house and I didn't pack a lunch because I knew there would be plenty of food to eat at the office during the party.  We all gathered upstairs in the lunch room and got to decorating.
My boss had set up a fake meeting for Shannon at one of the hospitals so she was out of the office and we were able to run around without fear of ruining the surprise.
I was the only one not afraid to climb up on the tables so it became my job to hop around tucking streamers under ceiling tiles.
We were set up in no time and then all that was left to do was wait for Shannon to come back.  All of the food was set up and it was all I could not to dive in.  I was absolutely starving by the time we finished setting up.
She was totally shocked, I think we actually scared her when she came around the corner and saw all of us sitting there.  And now that Shannon was there we could eat!  Brittany and I split a french toast bagel with cream cheese, I had a small piece of quiche, some vanilla greek yogurt with granola and pineapples then finished it off with mashed potatoes!  You may think it's odd but Shannon's favorite food is mashed potatoes so we had all normal breakfast food plus a mashed potato bar, yum!!
Once we were all sufficiently full of food it was time for presents!  We all put money together to buy them the car seat plus a few us picked up small gifts of our own.
It was really hard to get work done after the party.  We all tried our best to concentrate on the tasks at hand but it was obvious that we were all distracted.  I was also super snacky.  I was back and forth to the kitchen a bunch of times grabbing another mini cinnamon roll or handful of caramel corn.  It was out of control.  I was so happy that the minutes ticked by quickly, and before I knew it it was time to head to the gym.  My friend Thea had somehow convinced me it was a good idea to take cycling class.
I have to say the class was really great!  I was a little afraid to try a spin class again.  I had tried spin a few times at my old gym but it just wasn't my thing.  The room was dark, the music was loud and the instructor just yelled at you to go faster the whole time.  I ended up with a sore butt and a headache each time.  Well, this class was so different, good different!  The instructor was super nice, as soon as I walked in he asked how I was, how often I work out, he set up the bike so I'd be most comfortable and talked me through the whole class.  It was great!  The music wasn't too loud and everyone was super supportive, I'll definitely been taking it again!

I was starving by the time I got home and luckily Joe had put together a crock meal so I didn't have to wait long to eat.
He made a chicken and dumpling casserole that smelled fantastic the minute I walked the the door.  And it tasted just as good as it smelled!  I had 2 servings!  Joe was working late so I spent the majority of the evening on the couch watching tv, it was glorious!

  1. It is hard to blog about ever day. I've given up on that. LOL. The baby shower looks fun! And that dinner just looks awesome. Also, I'm glad you liked spin! I agree, it was always too loud at the other gym!
