September 24th

On Saturday we had plans to go whale watching with Kat & Mark using some tickets I purchased on Groupon a few months prior.  Joe and I were up pretty early considering the events of the night before and decided to head across the street for a quick breakfast.  Mike totally redeemed himself and made me the most delicious breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten.  It was tomato, ham, cheese & egg whites on a kaiser roll (514 calories) and it was totally fantastic, I plan to order it exclusively from now on.  Someone drank too much the night before and wasn't feeling so hot and could barely eat his breakfast, he even suggested I find a different date for the trip.
I wouldn't let Joe out of the trip and he was a trooper.  We got down to Cape May a little early so we checked in with the boat then wandered around town for a little while looking for some Gatorade for my poor dehydrated boyfriend.
Mark was very impressed by this giant swordfish.
We boarded the boat just before 1pm and were happy that the forecast-ed rain seemed to be missing us.
We rented some binoculars and did our best to spot the wildlife our guide described; Joe tried to keep breakfast down.

As we headed further out to sea I had some time to take pictures; Joe was really thrilled.
Pretty soon we were surrounded by dolphins!

After spending about a 1/2 hour with the dolphins we headed even further out into the ocean in search of whales.  Unfortunately the rocking of the boat didn't agree with Kat and she got a little sea sick.  We were just about to head back to shore when the captain got a call that another ship had spotted whales!
We converged on the area with a few other sightseeing boats and before long we spotted a humpback!  I think the guide was more excited then those of us on the trip.  They don't guarantee you'll see a whale on these trips and I'm guessing it doesn't happen very often.
We spent close to an hour following the two whales around before having to head back because we were already over our allotted time.  It's really hard taking pictures of animals that only surface for a few seconds then hide under the water for long periods of time!
We were all pretty hungry when we got off the boat but Kat was in no shape to eat so we headed for home.  I heated up a piece of leftover eggplant lasagna (395 calories) the minute we walked in the door.  Joe was feeling much better by this point and offered to go for a walk with me so I could get my steps in.  We decided to wander over to Pier1, they normally close before our walks so I was excited to look around.  I found a ton of adorable decorations that I'm really hoping show up in my house.

On the way home we stopped at Starbucks and I had a Pumpkin Spice latte (200 calories).  It totally wasn't worth it, I much prefer my Keurig Perfectly Pumpkin K-cups.  I'll definitely be sticking to my 90 calorie Skinny Cinnamon Dolce latte from now on.
I was still short on steps when we got home so I threw on some shorts and sneakers and hit the treadmill.  I grabbed a copy of Self magazine I've been meaning to read and knocked out my steps in no time.

September 23rd

I'm so terrible.  It's been almost a week since I blogged.  I've been taking pictures and everything but then I just don't have time to put posts together.  So here it is quick and dirty...

On Friday I had a fruit smoothie for breakfast: 358 calories.

I packed a peanut butter & jelly on a bagel thin for lunch with an apple and some smartfood popcorn: 443 calories.
We went out to the Library Pub & Grille with 25 of our closet friends to celebrate Joe's 34th birthday.  I got him a transformers themed cake from Genaurdis that was surprisingly delicious.
He spent a ridiculous amount of money playing songs on the jukebox.  Seriously, his songs lasted for at least 2.5 hours.
Before our friends arrived we ordered some food to share, a patty melt, french fries and scallops wrapped in bacon.  I totaled my calories for the evening at 1043 between the food, drinks and cake I don't think it's too bad.
We had a great time hanging out with all of our favorite people!

My friend Julie was in town from South Carolina, it was awesome to see her!  As you can tell everyone was getting a little crazy by the end of the night.  Sean even convinced us all to go back to his neighborhood and light off fireworks!  Obviously the cops were called.  It was too funny, I haven't been to a party where cops were called since high school!

September 22nd

Thursday started off really well.  I got up and dressed without incident, the internet was running smoothly for my morning email/Facebook check in, I was actually on time instead of running around like a crazy person.  I had a smoothie (297 calories) for breakfast, packed a peanut butter & jelly, an apple & a pear (424 calories) for lunch.  Then I got to work.  It's employee appreciation week in my office so we've been given all kinds of goodies (gift cards, pins, a watch).  So far I'm managed to keep my eating in check, but on Thursday my boss brought in a coconut pie.  When my 11am craving struck it was too much to resist and I had to have a tiny sliver (135 calories).
I'm sure I've mentioned that my office was recently renovated.  Our open house is next week and we were sent an email asking that we straighten up our offices and make sure all extraneous paperwork is filed.  Something tells me they were thinking about me when they composed that email...  I just really hate filing!
While driving home from work I was surprised to see chickens wandering around next the to road.  I do not live in a rural area so chickens are not something I see regularly.  Also, I drive this same route twice a day everyday and I've never seen them before.  I just had to take a picture when the light turned red.
Joe and I had been debating whether or not we should take the kayaks out all day.  The weather has been really crappy lately and I really didn't want to get stuck out on the water in the rain.  Lucky for me the tide wasn't right so it wouldn't work out anyway.  Instead I convinced Joe & Nicole to run with me.  We did C25K W5D2 which has at least one 8 minute run section.  As we were walking about the door my garmin watch died.  I was really pushing it trying to run when the battery was only 20% full but I had hoped it might make it.  Normally I would have used the SportyPal on my phone but I hadn't downloaded it onto my new phone yet.  I decided to go with Run Keeper instead this time, Shana uses it and likes it so why not?  I made Joe and Nicole wait a few minutes while I downloaded and installed the app and then we were off.  The bugs were terrible because of the humidity.  By the time I got home I easily had 5 welts from those damn mosquitos!
Joe made an eggplant lasagna (395 calories) for dinner and it was so good!  He went light on the sauce just how I like it and there's plenty leftover for this weekend!
After dinner Joe went out to meet his friend John at the bar to watch the Flyers and Phillies so I had the tv to myself!  It was so nice to be able to watch The Biggest Loser, Glee and Grey's Anatomy without his commenting every other second about how lame they are.  I love The Biggest Loser, I find it so inspiring!  If people that weigh 300+ pounds can get up and workout what the heck is stopping me?  I wasn't hungry but kept finding myself in the kitchen so I made a bag of popcorn (30 calories) in hopes of stuffing my face for less calories.
I had a hard time getting my steps in.  I had about 2000 left after our workout so I took to getting up and pacing the living room during commercial breaks.  The hardest part was that all the shows were on DVR so I could have fast forwarded right through them but I knew I should just get my butt up and do it.  I finally finished them up just before 11pm and then fell directly into bed and to sleep.

3. Complete 1250 fitness minutes ~ 40 minutes of aerobics = 672 minutes total.

Outfits of the Week ~ 9/19-23

I am crazy excited about this weekend!  Well, the weather probably isn't going to be optimal but we're going to have fun even if we're soaking wet!  Tonight is Joe's birthday party at the Library Pub & Grille!  We have about 25 of our closet friends coming out to celebrate.  I ordered a Transformers cake and I'm going to pick up some balloons on the way home, nothing like embarrassing your 34 year old boyfriend!  Tomorrow we have plans to go whale watching with Mark & Kat then grab dinner at the Lobster House.  I purchased a couple of groupons back in June and they expire at the end of October so we needed to use them soon.  The weather report says 80% chance of thunderstorms but I'm just going to ignore that and hope for the best.  On Sunday we're supposed to do a trail run with Mark & Kat and we're thinking about taking the kayaks out if it's nice.  Unfortunately that doesn't leave too much time for working out but hopefully I'll do a lot of walking!

Good news!  I lost a pound this week!  So that means I'm only up 2 from my previous low and 6 pounds from my goal!  I really think it's because I worked out every day this week.  I need to really push to get my workouts in from now on.  Next week is going to be tough; I have lots of meetings and events that will interfere with my workout schedule.  Hopefully the weather will be nice and I can squeeze them in when I get home at night.  Oh!  And Joe got the treadmill working so I can use that anytime I want now, maybe some morning runs?

Monday ~ purple-blue button down and grey cami from New York & Company, charcoal pants from the Gap and black shoes from Macy's.  I've noticed that the stores have a LOT of this color out for fall.  Don't get me wrong it's a great color but I like to change it up and it seems like every thing I go for is this purple-blue shade.
Tuesday ~ white button down and white cami from New York & Company, navy pants from The Limited and nude shoes from Macy's.  I always think I look like a cater waiter when I wear white button down shirts...a big statement necklace probably would have helped.
Wednesday ~ black cardigan/white ruffled one piece top and black pants from New York & Company, black shoes from Macy's.  I thought I looked shapeless in this outfit but after looking at the pictures it may be my favorite of the week.
Thursday ~ pink sweater and tan cami from New York & Company, brown pants from The Limited and nude shoes from Macy's.  I'm totally eh about this one...
Friday ~ purple-blue sweater and grey cami from New York & Company, grey pants from The Limited and black shoes from Macy's.  I'm actually not wearing those shoes, I changed them before I left the house but didn't feel like taking another picture.  I was hoping to wear the same thing to work and out for Joe's birthday but I couldn't find anything I liked for both, oh well.

Five for Friday ~ 9/23/11

1. You offered to get up and make me breakfast every morning of your vacation.

2. You didn't complain too much when I made a big deal about your birthday.

3. You've taken missing Phillies games due to a super booked DVR surprisingly well.

4. You found me a really nice super cheap life vest so I won't drown when or if we take my kayak out.

5. You went out with John for the evening and left me to watch The Biggest Loser, Glee & Grey's.

I must really love you people to post this picture of myself on the internet...
