Let there be light!

I am not a happy camper today...Joe even asked me twice this morning if I was ok.  Really, I'm totally fine, I'm just annoyed because I know I'm going to have to use the damn treadmill again tonight.  They've changed the forecast again and now we're supposed to get rain this afternoon/evening then 3-5 inches of snow overnight.  Which basically means it's not enough to create a state of emergency/day off from work but enough to keep me from running outside.  I'm pretty sure Amanda and I will be hitting the treadmills together so maybe that will help.  I'm also planning to use one with a tv on the display so that I can't watch the time tick by.  Wish me luck...

1/10/11 - Oh Monday...I woke up without issue, probably because I fell asleep before 10 on Sunday night.  I didn't have any problems picking out an outfit, I wore my purple Cynthia Rowley jacket from TJ Maxx for the first time (good thing too, it's almost too big now) with a black cami, black pants & black heels.  I got a lot of compliments on the jacket throughout the day!

I was super excited to make my breakfast sandwich (= 299 calories) since Joe had picked up some tomato!  I used the new ceramic knife I got him for xmas (from Oprah's favorite things list) to slice it and it worked great!  I still think it's funny that it has a white blade though.
I wasn't hungry all morning until Dawn & Jo announced they were going to lunch, within 5 minutes my stomach was growling.  Joe picked up some new fruit cups at BJs but didn't realize they're 2 servings per container so I need to figure out how to work them into my meals.  I'm trying to eat the fresh fruit (clementines & apples) first anyway so it doesn't go bad.  Lunch = 300 calories.
I was absolutely ravenous in the afternoon so I grabbed a sugar free pudding for a snack = 70 calories.
After work I went to meet Christina & Amanda at the gym for group power.  I hadn't taken power since December 20th so I was concerned about overdoing it and being super sore all week.  I went light on my weights but I think I may have gone too light though, I wasn't really struggling at all.  This is definitely one of the downsides to training for a run, I end up doing a lot of cardio and slacking off on my lifting.  I was starving by the time class was over!  Luckily, Joe had the day off & dinner was ready when I walked in the door.  Turkey meatloaf stuffed with cheese (thanks for teaching him that one Tammy!) and sides of mashed potato & broccoli = 733 calories.
After dinner we worked on a house warming gift for Shana & Bill while watching some tv.  I wasn't hungry anymore but when Joe got out an ice cream bar from the freezer I had to have one too = 110 calories.
Earlier in the afternoon Joe mentioned that he got me a present from Harbor Freight, I thought this was odd since that's a hardware store...but who doesn't like presents??  I totally forgot about it for most of the evening until right before we went to bed, I was thinking it might be a new shower head because ours has been leaking but when I went in the bathroom it was the same...  Then when I got into bed I noticed a glowing coming from the closet...he had installed a new light for me!  Now you need to understand why this is so exciting, here is a shot of my closet before, it had one tap light on the wall
Here is the after shot with the overhead lighting Joe installed.
I can see my sweaters!  I usually spend a lot of time pulling things out, bringing them into the light, realizing they're the wrong color, putting them back and starting over again.  I am absolutely giddy with the prospect of getting dressed in the morning now!  Yay for Joe!

How did I do on my January goals?
1. drink 64oz of water every day: check, every day total
2. track all my food & burn at least 500 calories a day for at least 25 days: 2303 burned - 1512 eaten = 791 total burned, 7 days total
3. 1000 fitness minutes, not allowed to count walking at the restaurant: 60 minutes today, 285 total for month
4. run 20 miles: 0 today, 8.6 total
5. 15 spend free days - nothing purchased, 4 days total

  1. Joe is the best!
So no slacking on the strength training ok! I have it set up for me to do it on Mondays (you can go to power) and Wednesdays. Now, like I said, we have a 2 mile run AND ST on Wednesdays. That is how you work it in! It will help you run better/faster! Have fun at the gym tonight!
