This sport would be fun if it wasn't for all the running.

I had been dreading Sunday all week, I had to run 6 miles and was really not looking forward to it.  It's so terrible to because I really had a good day but I let this run screw with my head so much that I just couldn't get around it.  The weather report was calling for 43 and sunny so at least we would have good weather, isn't it funny that I'm calling 43 good weather?  I started the morning by having breakfast with Joe across the street again before his early shift at work.  I had a tomato, onion & cheese omelet with home fries and rye toast = 660 calories.  Angela & Rob ended up coming in to eat while we were finishing up so they joined us & I stayed to visit with them after Joe left for work.
We parted ways around 9am with plans to meet up around 11 for our run.  I went home and watched a little tv & shopped on The Gap's website because they were offering an additional 25% off.  I picked a few things out but when I tried to check out it wouldn't apply my coupon code, oh well, I closed the window and went to get dressed for my run.  We decided to try a different route in hopes of battling my unhappiness, we went to the park in EHT where we usually play tennis and ran around the 1 mile loop there plus 2 of the nearby housing developments.  We did a lot of talking while we jogged/walked, I poured out all of my complaints about weight loss & running, Angela was a good listener & let me know she's been there.  The new route really helped battle my boredom too, it seemed to be over much sooner then I anticipated.  It took us about an hour and 16 minutes to finish the 6 miles.  I'm a little disappointed in all the walking breaks I took but I'm feeling better about the upcoming training runs and hoping to shake it all off.  Isn't my map so much more exciting when it's not a straight line?
When we got back to the car I got a call from Nicole asking how the weather was, she was going to take Jack for a walk but wanted to make sure it wasn't too windy.  I asked her to wait a little bit and I'd join them.  Not really sure what I was thinking, is it ever a good idea to cap off a 6 mile run with a 2 mile walk?  I was a little hungry and knew I should eat something to help rebuild my muscles so I stopped home quickly and made myself a protein shake = 369 calories.
Then I met up with Nicole & Jack for their walk on the bike path.  We did just under 2 miles through Linwood in about 40 minutes, not bad.  I noticed my knee was starting to ache a little while we were walking but didn't think anything of it, something always aches after I run.  When we got back to the house we sat outside for a little while enjoying the sun and above freezing temperatures.  Jack crawled around with his favorites, hand shoes...
Nicole & I had planned on watching the super bowl at our house that night so we tried to brainstorm what delicious snacks we should make.  I had invited Angela & Rob over as well but they had a lot to take care of around the house so we weren't sure if they'd be able to make it.  Nicole was planning on making potato skins & cheesecake pudding pies and I ordered a couple of pizzas from Mike while I was at breakfast.  We couldn't figure out what else we really needed or what would work with those options so we figured we'd leave it at that.
Angela & Rob ended up getting everything done earlier then they planned so they decided to come over.  In fact they were there before Joe got home from work.  We started cooking the pizzas and just ate whatever was there however it came out.  It was a nice mellow evening but my knee was still bothering me.  It feels more like an ache or soreness then an injury, I'm supposed to run 4 miles tonight (Monday) and I'm not sure if I should rest it or not...  Anyway, back to the food...
I had 3 slices of pizza = 575 calories.
And 2 potato skins = 278 calories.
Joe brought home some cheese, pulled chicken in BBQ sauce & rolls from BJs.  I didn't try any but we have plenty left over so I'm sure I'll be having some for dinner this week!
Angela & Rob took a hint from Tammy and brought over some JBCs (Jr Bacon Cheeseburger) and Honey BBQ Chicken Tenders from Wendys.

I think everyone had a nice night, the super bowl is always hard because it's on a Sunday night and everyone has to work in the morning.  I'm always more interested in the commercials then the game & there were a lot of cute commercials this year!  I really liked the Bridgestone one with the beaver, I'm a sucker for animals.  It was pretty funny everyone headed home around 9:30 before the game was even over, so while we finished watching the game by ourselves Joe asked me if we were losers and I said no, they are (love you guys)!

How did I do on my February goals?
1. Read 2 books: Didn't read anything...
2. Burn at least 750 calories a day for at least 20 days: 2647 burned - 1882 eaten = 765 total burned, 4 days total
3. 1000 fitness minutes, not allowed to count walking at the restaurant: 120 minutes today, 345 total for month
4. Eat 1 fruit or veggie with each meal for at least 20 days: tomato & onion w/breakfast, banana w/lunch & nothing w/dinner, 2 days total
5. 10 spend free days - thanks to The Gap's glitch I didn't buy anything, 2 days total

  1. Haha Rob and I knew we're lame. We went right to bed when we got home!
And I think you just need a change of pace. The new route helped lots (and the nice weather). Maybe we should try doing some interval running this week? It'll help pass the time?
