How much is too much?

Good morning!  I usually start my day with a cup of coffee and my friend Angela's blog, she gets up at the crack of dawn so it's almost always there waiting for me when I wake up.  Today she wrote about how far she's come on her weightloss journey, 25 lbs & 5+ inches in the last year!  When she looked back to last year she realized she was working out a LOT more back then, now she has a renewed motivation to hit the gym hard.  I'm not going to lie, I'm a little bit afraid.  Angela is a great motivator, after all she got me to run!  But I'm pretty happy with the work I'm putting in at the gym now, I'm working out at least 5 days a week for at least 40 minutes a shot; I know my diet could stand a little TLC and I hope to get it back under control.  My concern is that super girl over there is going to ask me to join her at the gym more often and I won't be able to say no & then I'll be too exhausted to enjoy what little time I have off...

I was a little scattered on Tuesday morning.  I decided to wear my new Ann Taylor sweater but couldn't figure out what pants to wear with it, I must have changed them 4 times.  I even realized I forgot to put makeup on around 11am.  So I didn't have much time for breakfast, I had a bowl of cocoa pebbles with sliced banana = 276 calories.  It was much better with the banana, less chocolaty.  I know I should be eating a healthier cereal but I don't do the grocery shopping.  Maybe I'll ask nicely for cereal with a redeeming quality next time.
My office was in total chaos all morning.  As I've mentioned before we are under construction and a lot of rearraning was happening, walls were coming down, filing cabinets were being relocated, etc.  I was starving & ready for a break by noon so Jocelyn and I decided to head out to Taco Bell.  I usually have a grilled chicken burrito & a crunch taco when we go there but after the article about their ground beef not being 100% beef I was a little apprehensive to get the taco.  Instead I ordered 2 burritos, I'm not really sure why I did that, it's way too much food for me.  I ate 1 burrito and drank a bottle of water = 430 calories.
The rest of the work day went by pretty quickly.  I knocked out a lot of "busy" work and started on a new project.  One of my coworkers asked how lunch at Taco Bell was, I it was delicious as always and then joked about the extra burrito in my purse.  Well, I could not stop thinking about the burrito after I brought it up, finally around 3:30 I gave in and ate it = 430 calories.
I headed over to the gym in EHT after work to take Zumba with Angela.  She's been raving about the instructor, Jessica, who teaches there 2 days a week so I finally gave in and agreed to take a class.  I got to the gym a little early so I hung in the car and read about 15 pages of the book I'm working on "Sleeping Naked is Green."  I just realized I already started Portia DeRossi's book too so hopefully I'll be able to finish them both this month!
The Zumba class wasn't terrible.  I am by no means what anyone would call a dancer; the closest I ever came was cheerleading in middle school.  I can follow directions but my body does not automatically move to any beat.  This instructor was definitely better then the others I've taken the class from though, she explained everything very thoroughly and I felt like I could probably get it after a few tries.  I ended up getting home a little later then usual because this gym is further from my house and Joe had just made some hamburger helper for dinner.  I wasn't really hungry (see burrito at 3pm) so I just had a yogurt = 100 calories.
We spent the rest of the evening catching up on American Idol and I had about a handful of peanut butter filled pretzels = 210 calories.
How did I do on my February goals?
1. Read 2 books: worked on it
2. Burn at least 750 calories a day for at least 20 days: 2382 burned -1446 eaten = 936 total burned, 1 day total
3. 1000 fitness minutes, not allowed to count walking at the restaurant: 60 minutes today, 60 total for month
4. Eat 1 fruit or veggie with each meal for at least 20 days: no fruits/veggies at lunch or dinner, 0 days total
5. 10 spend free days - I had to get gas & bought lunch, 0 days total

  1. Haha is that your plea to me to not kill you? Don't worry. I don't plan on looping you into any extra workouts. That's what Rob is for! Actually, I plan on doing most of my extra working out before you get off work. And to push myself when we're together, I can do intervals when we're on the treadmill or just use extra weight at power. Nothing that changes your workouts at all! Besides, I already think the ones we do together are pretty good! I just need to add a bit more for myself! (Besides have you noticed you work out a bit harder than me right now anyway? Like you would go to power and I would be at home skipping my workout? LoL) Have a great day!
