lack of motivation Monday

Does anyone else do their best thinking in the shower?  I always have the best ideas and epiphanies while washing my hair.  I can't tell you how many times I've started a conversation with Joe by saying "so, I was thinking while I was in the shower and..."

So this morning I was standing there shampooing away and thinking about what to write in my motivation post today and drawing a total blank.  I think it's because I haven't been very motivated lately, how can I help motivate everyone else when I can't motivate myself.  I do really well at the beginning of the week, I go to the gym I eat low calorie meals and then sometime around Thursday it all comes crashing down.  My weekends have really been out of control.  So then I challenged myself to remember why I was so on target at this time last year and I think I've come up with the reason.  Results.

It's so much easier to get your ass up and to the gym or skip dessert when the scale is reading lower & lower numbers each week.  As you are all painfully aware my numbers have not gone down in a while.  They actually went up about 8 pounds before going back down a measly 2.  This puts me up 6 pounds from July and 10 pounds from my goal.  I really want to get down there to 130 (by 1/30, love it!) but I don't have a lot of faith that it's going to happen.  I'm trying weekly goals now instead of monthly in hopes that will keep my interest.

Anyone have any other ideas for motivating myself to get these last 10 pounds off?

  1. I hear ya! I have been wandering around this stupid plateau for over a year and a half now! And I even went up slightly too! Maybe you need to find different things to count as results? I love checking my Body Fat % once in a while. Trying to get that lower was a huge challenge for me for a while. Otherwise, I do the usual race goals and such. Maybe you need to get into a routine or something for a while? Not sure what else. If you find out, let me know too!
