I need some advice. I'm very seriously considering dropping out of the 10 mile Broad Street run this year.
They have a bib deferral program that would allow me to give up my spot this year and guarantee me a spot for next year. I think I'm going to take advantage of this option and I plan on talking to Joe about it later today. I feel bad because Kat is also registered but her sister is running too so she won't be on her own...
What do you guys think? Am I being baby? Should I just suck it up and run? Should I listen to my gut and stay home?
I would say to defer until next year. It would be a wasted race and you might end up injuring yourself! No harm in backing out! Especially since then you can guarantee a spot next year!!

I agree with Angela. I would also defer until next year. There is nothing that will discourage you more than a bad race experience. Also, if you haven't trained at all, you run the risk of injury. There's no shame in deferring...it's better to keep yourself healthy and happy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! I just processed my deferment. After talking to Joe, my sister & Nicole I decided it is the best choice for me this year. I signed up for a local 5K this coming Sunday and Joe is going to do a long run with me on Broad St day so I'm not giving up on running just slowing down a little!
