13 weeks

According to my What to Expect App I'm finished the 1st trimester!

How far along? 13 weeks
Baby’s Size: Peach
Maternity clothes?  Kind of...The shorts I'm wearing in that picture are maternity but that's only because I don't have any non-maternity shorts that fit.  I don't really feel like I'm showing at all but my pants beg to differ!  It doesn't help that I was pushing the limits on my shorts before I got pregnant...

Best moment this week:  At my appointment yesterday we found out that I'm in excellent health!  I mean I take decent care of myself but all of my blood work came out perfect!  I don't have any markers for anything!
Miss anything?  I miss staying up late.  I'm pretty much ready for bed by 9pm every night and if I stay up any later I start to get a headache...though this is an improvement over the last 2 weeks when I was in bed by 8pm.
Movement:  Nope.  And I found out yesterday that I have an anterior placenta so it may be longer than usual before I do feel anything...not thrilled.
Food cravings:  Nothing in particular.  It's more like if someone talks about something I need to eat it.  Like I was getting my hair cut and someone was talking about burritos so I obviously then needed a burrito for dinner.  Luckily Chido Burrito is right across the street!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  If I wait too long to eat I get nauseous or if I think too hard about the consistency of something I start to dry heave but it's not that bad.

Gender:  Our anatomy scan is scheduled for 8/28 and we're planning on having a gender reveal party that Saturday to share the news with our friends & family.
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms:  Occasional round ligament pains when I go from standing to sitting.  Super tired at night.  Lots of gagging with the occasional dry heave, lol.  I'm starting to feel a little thicker/heavier around the middle even though my weight hasn't changed and I swear there's nothing to see.
Belly button in or out?  Way in.  I'm curious about what happens to my belly fat as I get bigger does it just sit on top?  I'd like for it to somehow magically melt away, any chance of that?

Happy or moody most of the time:  I think I'm pretty happy though I do get agitated/impatient a little quicker than usual.  Like last night Joe & I were looking for a ceiling fan for the baby's room and he couldn't make up his mind, I seriously could have left him there.  But as soon as we got home he got to installing the fan and now we've got the 1st item check off the to do list for the nursery!
Looking forward to:  Showing!

On a related note, I wanted to share our ultrasound pictures.  The first is from 6 weeks 5 days and the second is from 11 weeks 5 days.  Isn't it crazy how much things change in just a few weeks?
I also learned at the 11 week ultrasound that I have a fibroid on the right side.  It's about 3.5 cm now but none of the doctors seem very concerned about it and I get extra ultrasounds from 20 weeks on so they can keep an eye on it.  Apparently they're pretty common, most of the time they stop growing and move out of the way before they get to be a problem.  However, they can compete with the baby for blood & nutrients if they get too big and cause a problem with delivery if they're too low.

At my appointment yesterday they had a hard time finding a heart beat on Doppler and we were all getting a little nervous.  Turns out the baby is up much higher than usual probably because of the fibroid, it was also harder to find because of the anterior placenta everything is fine but I was hoping this whole process would be a little less stressful.  Guess that was wishful thinking, huh?

I could tell you're pregnant because you're getting fat.

Someone actually said those words to me today.

Thankfully it didn't bother me too much because I have not actually gained any weight, in fact I was down 2 pounds at one point.  But seriously?!?  Who says that?!?

This is the only picture we've taken so far because honestly, I'm not showing and I don't see the need to have a million shots of me looking like me...  At this point we're at 12 weeks and I feel good except that I'm pretty much wiped by 8pm, the baby is the size of a a peach.  (maybe I'll get Nicole to take a picture tonight because now I'm feeling guilty about not taking them)
As you all know I had already been in a bit of a slump when I got pregnant.  I haven't been to the gym since mid-April and I'm not sure when I'm going back.

My official start weight is 154, or up 20 pounds from my all time low in July 2011.  Obviously I wish I was smaller at the onset of all this but there's nothing I can do about it now.  The doctor said I am in perfectly good shape and shouldn't be worried.  My ultimate goal is to keep my weight under 170 but I also realize it's not entirely under my control.  My plan is to stay as active as possible and eat as healthily as I can.  Not to say I'm not going to indulge but I'd like to keep it from being an everyday occurrence.

I'm so excited to be back to blogging again!  I hope there's still at least a few of you out there reading!

Surprise!

So I totally pulled the blogger disappearing act because I couldn't talk about the biggest news in my life...  We're pregnant!  We had a BBQ today (now that I'm 12 weeks) to announce the news to our friends & family!

it's been a month?!?

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post!  I had the best of intentions...oh well.  Here's what's been going on with me:

Jack & I have been spending pretty much every Saturday on the beach with the Zarrillis and Buccos.  It's been a lot of fun and it's so much easier to babysit when there's 4 kids and 5 adults!
I had an open house for Thirty-One and a few of my other direct sales friends.
I set up my stuff and invited Anne from Pampered Chef, Brenda from Origami Owl and Thea from Tastefully Simple to show their wares as well.  We had a nice afternoon out back and hopefully it's was worth everyone's time.  I did over $1000 in sales!

On a rainy Saturday we watched our friends Sean & Amy get married!
Amy was upset about the rain but we all assured her that it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day.  Not to mention the torrential downpour at an outdoor ceremony makes for a great story to tell the grand kids!  Thankfully the ceremony was short and sweet and because they chose to keep it private all of the guests were able to fit under the gazebo out of the rain!

The rain actually stopped right after the ceremony ended and the flower girl was able to show off her fancy wagon!
The reception was in their own backyard!  Everything was super cute and very homey.  We partied until after midnight and had a great time with friends we really need to try to see more!

I'm not going to make any grand promises to post more...I haven't been working out, I haven't been counting my calories, I'm just not there right now...  I'll try...  That's the best I can do right now...

is this thing on?

Holy crap!  I haven't posted in almost a month!

I have all the normal reasons for not posting...life just got busy and well, I plain didn't feel like writing.  Also, I'm not really proud of myself the last 2 months... I left off with cancelling my LifeCenter membership and plans to join Island Gym.  I haven't worked out since then though I have lost like 3 pounds...  My friend Christina had her baby, Emma Ann, super cute!  I guess I'm just dragging my feet until she's back to meet me for classes.

Anyway...here's a couple of highlights in my world...

John & Kristen got married!  I'll do a full post some other time, but in short, it was a beautiful wedding on a windy day earlier this month.  Everything was gorgeous!  That means we've only got 2 more of Joe's close friends to marry off!  And Sean is getting married in June!
That same weekend I attended/worked the AtlantiCare Gala.  The theme was classic art and it was a great night as always!
Joe's been out back pretty much all the time working on installing solar panels on our shed.  His main goal is to have enough power to run a sump pump under the house when the electricity is out.  You know, in case we get another super storm...
I went to the Phillies vs Indians game with my dad.  It was free hat night!
And just this past weekend we took part in a walk for Juvenile Diabetes research.  Nicole put a team together in Jack's name, we were Jack's Candy Crushers...get it...candy crushers...diabetes...
I swear I'm going to try harder to spend some time at the computer each night or on the weekend putting posts together.  I mean if I'm not working out the least I can do is blog, right?

first step

I've been doing a lot of thinking about finding balance after my post yesterday. I decided that the first step is doing exercise I enjoy. When I thought back to what workouts I enjoyed most over the years I kept coming back to Group Power.
Back when I lost my weight the first time (2 years ago!) I was taking Group exercise classes 3+ days a week. I loved meeting my friend Christina at Island Gym and taking Power or Step or Kick! I reached out to Christina and she's still going to classes 3 or 4 days a week and was excited to hear I was thinking about coming back. She's on 6 week break though because her due date with baby #2 was yesterday!

A short chat via text with Christina was all I needed. After work I stopped at my current gym and cancelled my membership. They require 30 days notice so I will continue to work out there until the end of May but on June 1st I'm joining Island again! The best part is they're running a special, $99 for 6 months!

weekend update

  • 1 item down, 39 to go!  I sold something on eBay!  I think it's hilarious that the first item we (me & Nicole, we're a team in this) sold is a wallet called the Lauren.  I'm ridiculously excited about getting rid of all the stuff I don't wear/use.  We have 21 items listed as of today and I packed up 2 more boxes of stuff over the weekend!  Here's to making some money back on my out of control shopping habit!
  •  I think 2013 Bayfest may have been my last.  I'm officially too old for day drinking outside in the sun.  I had a great time walking down to the event with Lorie & Katie then hanging out with friends all day long but by 6pm I was ready for bed and I was exhausted until mid afternoon on Sunday.  I just can't hang like I used to!

  • My Old Navy starting selling sunglasses (and jewelry), they have a whole display by the front door now!  I mean really I need another pair of sunglasses like I need a hole in the head but how could I pass up these super fun green guys?  I wanted to wear them while I was running errands with my mom but I was already wearing a similar shade of green jeans and after one comment from a gentleman at Home Depot they went back in the bag.
